What is in this Face Mask?
Bentonite Clay also known as “Healing Clay” because it heals and cleanses the body.
When combined with water and left to dry on the skin as a mask bentonite clay will bind to bacteria and toxins on the skin and within pores to extract these from the pores. This helps to reduce the outbreak of blemishes, alleviate redness, and also to fight allergic reactions from irritating lotions or face washes, and even helps with poison ivy!
Bentonite Clay has the ability to act as an antibiotic treatment when applied topically to the skin, the clay can help to calm skin infections and speed up the healing time of wounds or eczema.
Apple Cider Vinegar has so many wonderful uses. When used on the skin the acid containing vinegar works by restoring the proper pH levels to your skin, and beta-carotene helps to counter future skin damage. It is also antifungal and antibacterial. The protective acidic layer will make your skin feel smoother, absorb excess oil and reduce fine lines.
Raw honey a natural skin softener, and contains enzymes and good bacteria that balance skin.
*Optional Add Ins*
Rosemary Essential Oil is also antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. Rosemary will help reduce redness, improve circulation and help with any pain.
Tea Tree Oil another wonderful antibacterial. Tea Tree is cleansing and helps soothe the skin. Great for oily, acne prone skin.
Frankincense Essential Oil is great for anti aging. It reduces wrinkles and fades age spots, sun damage. Also an anti-inflammatory.
**If you have sensitive skin you can always use just Bentonite Clay and Filtered Water. It is still an amazing, healing mask. You could slowly add vinegar over time to see how your skin reacts. Starting with maybe a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and the rest water and using more each time you do the mask.
**Your face may turn red during and up to 30 min after the mask. Don’t Panic! This is normal and will go away after a few minutes. The reason your face turns red is that the bentonite clay increases blood circulation bringing more blood to the surface of your skin while drawing out impurities, thereby causing it to appear red. Tingling, heated sensation is normal. But just like anything you use on your skin the first time, I highly recommend a skin test before you spread anything on any part of your body.
I use this mask once a week and follow it up with a moisturizer.
Let me know if you try it out and how it works for you!
